Guzman Engineering: Where "You're Hired" Means a Real Person Read Your Resume

When a pump runs at a water treatment plant or a control system keeps a facility operating, there are critical engineering processes supporting these activities that most people will never see. That support includes maintenance of the electrical and control systems that help Texas communities maintain reliable water and wastewater service.

At Guzman Engineering, we believe the people doing that critical work matter just as much as the systems they design. In fact, within our organization, the people come before the project—and our hiring process reflects this conviction. As we have grown from two engineers in 2025 to an overall team of 12 in 2026, hiring remains a personal process. And as the company prepares to recruit this fall, prospective engineers can expect the same direct communication that has been part of Guzman’s hiring process from the beginning.

Purposeful Projects, Not Just a Paycheck.

Guzman Engineering is guided by six core principles that we summarize with the acronym T.H.R.E.A.D.: trustworthiness, helpfulness, reliability, efficiency, authenticity, and defend. These principles are consistent across every function within the company, whether it is working on essential power systems or providing consulting services.

In one project at the City of Burton Water Plant, Guzman Engineering helped integrate a second groundwater well into an existing water treatment facility. The electrical design included updates to the plant’s power, control, and monitoring systems so the facility could operate each well interchangeably while maintaining critical system redundancy.

Projects like this give engineers a direct connection between conceptual design work and the real communities this work supports. Electrical drawings guide construction, new equipment is brought online, and operators rely on those systems to keep water moving through the facility. What begins as an engineering decision in the office becomes equipment running in the field and infrastructure people depend on every day. The people served by the plant may never see the engineering behind it, but they experience its impact every time they turn on the water.

That connection is one of the things that makes working at Guzman Engineering meaningful: employees contribute to projects with an important purpose and see firsthand how their work supports the people and communities around them.

As one Guzman engineer explains: “It’s really rewarding to know that the electrical engineering work done behind the scenes directly impacts people’s quality of life and helps keep essential public services running reliably.”

For employees who want more from their work than a paycheck, Guzman offers something that many engineering firms cannot: the opportunity to take complete ownership of their work while fully appreciating and participating in its community impact.

A Real Person Reads Every Resume.

Despite the global proliferation of AI across every business and industry, every application for Guzman is reviewed by a real person, and every candidate—whether they progress or not—receives a response. There is no filtering software or AI screening tool that decides which resumes reach the team. Regardless of the decision, every candidate receives a personal response, including those who are not selected to move forward.

Direct communication gives applicants a clear point of contact throughout the hiring process.  Candidates can ask questions about the company, the work, and the role they are considering while the team gets to know the person behind the resume.

The same attention is carried into onboarding. New hires have support from the people around them as they learn their role and become familiar with the team’s work.  From the first application, candidates know where they stand and can expect a personalized response from Guzman Engineering.

When interviewing at large companies, applicants can feel reduced to a number by hiring managers navigating large numbers of candidates. At Guzman, every applicant receives a genuine interaction. Applicants are free to have real conversations with the people they may eventually work alongside. For one Guzman Engineering employee, that personal approach stood out from the very beginning: “What really stood out to me during the hiring process was how engaging and personal the interactions were from start to finish.”

That experience doesn't end when the offer is accepted. New hires receive support from the people around them as they learn their role and become familiar with the team.

Bigger Team, Same Process.

Since opening its doors in 2025, Guzman Engineering has grown from a total of four-person firm to a team of 12, with additional hiring currently underway. During that time, the company has completed hundreds of projects across Texas while continuing to focus on the relationships that helped build its reputation.  All employees maintain direct access to leadership, and hiring is personally overseen at every stage. New hires work closely with the people they will be learning from and working alongside, which keeps the process personal as the team continues to grow.

For engineers considering Guzman, that means joining a growing company where direct communication and close involvement with the team are an integral part of the day-to-day experience.

Even as Guzman Engineering has grown, employees say the close-knit culture remains an important differentiator for the company.

As one team member recalls, “From my very first week, the genuine camaraderie and mutual support among everyone across the firm made a lasting impression.”

This sense of connection extends beyond the walls of the office as well. Employees work directly with clients and build relationships that last after project completion. As Guzman grows, that personal approach will remain fundamental to every interaction, both with employees and clients.
